L ARCS was formed in 1957 by a group of eight
Valley women who felt the growing need to assist the developmentally disabled
(current terminology for individuals who have been diagnosed with mental
retardation.) Our membership has grown over the years to be 140 active and
sustaining members.
The function of LARCS is to render assistance to benefit individuals with developmentally disabilities of Fresno County:
- LARCS financially supports
Arc Fresno through annual fundraising events.
- LARCS maintains public educational programs regarding development
disabilities.
- LARCS provides scholarships for individuals who enter the field of
special education.
- LARCS sponsors
Special Olympics,
Break the Barriers and Lori Ann Infant events.
